Postgraduate department of Dermatology GMC Anantnag was established in 2019. The department is headed by Dr. Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Associate Professor. Currently we have one Assistant Professor, one Consultant, two Senior Residents, one Junior Resident and 3 DNB students. Our department caters to whole of South Kashmir including Anantnag, Ramban, Banihal, Reasi, Doda, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian. On an average our OPD patient number on daily basis is around 250. The rise of skin diseases in recent past is tremendous and so is the number of patients seeking treatment. Not only has there been rise of general dermatology patients, the number of patients seeking treatment for cosmetic conditions is also on rise. We also offer dermatosurgical treatment modalities for conditions like warts, molluscum, cysts, Vitiligo, PRP, TCA Cautery and many other similar conditions. Our department is actively involved in academic activities which involves training of DNB candidates and students pursuing MBBS. We are not lagging behind in research as well. Our department is conducting research on many challenging topics like Hair loss in patients receiving chemotherapeutic agents, Species isolation in dermatophyte infections in children and Cutaneous manifestations in patients of chronic renal failure on hemodialysis in age group more than 50 yrs. – A hospital based study. Our aim is to deliver best treatment modalities as per current Evidence based medicine.

Our vision is based on following principles 1. Education: Our vision is to offer an integrated curriculum that involves fundamental Dermatology and its clinical implication. This approach ensures that our patients get state of art treatment experiences. 2. Hands-on Training: To provide students with extensive hands on training under guidance of senior dermatologists. This hands-on training aims to cultivate technical skills and critical thinking necessary for effective problem-solving in clinical settings. 3.. Innovative Research: Pioneering Studies: To foster a research environment that encourages innovative studies in Dermatology. 4. Collaborative Research: To establish partnerships with other research institutions, healthcare organizations, and industry stakeholders. These collaborations will facilitate knowledge exchange, enhance research capabilities, and promote the translation of research findings into clinical practice. 5. Teaching: Our vision is to make out reach programs in schools, colleges and universities to make public awareness about common skin conditions and when and how to seek dermatological attention. 6. Faculty development: To support continuous professional development for faculty members, encouraging them to pursue advanced training, engage in scholarly activities, and contribute to the global scientific community by attending and presenting their work in national and international forums.
Our mission is to provide holistic treatment for all dermatological conditions with latest advances at our hand . We also strive harder to pursue more and more education and research.
Our goal is satisfied patient and improve the quality of life of our patients. We also work harder to produce quality dermatologists ready to serve the society.
